Swimming Lesson Terms & Conditions
1. Cooling-Off Period
All new memberships include a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of joining. During this time, you may cancel without any charges.
2. Lesson Schedule
Lessons run for 50 weeks of the year however they will not be held on Bank Holidays. Please enter poolside no earlier than 5 minutes before your scheduled lesson. A brief 5-minute registration and administration period is included during each session. Class numbers are restricted and set by Chester City Baths to ensure a quality teaching environment and are based on the Swim England Safe Supervision for Teaching and Coaching Swimming Policy.
3. Spectating
Spectators must remain in the designated gallery area at all times. We kindly ask that spectators do not distract swimmers during their lesson, as this can hinder their progress and learning experience.
4. Swimwear
All swimmers must wear appropriate swimwear suitable for swimming lessons. Chester City Baths will provide floatation equipment where necessary during the swimming lesson.
5. Payment Information
Payment must be completed in full prior to the start of lessons. Repeated failure to make payments may result in suspension or termination of membership. When paying by Direct Debit, your payment will cover the period from when the payment day is due, to the day preceding your due collection day the following month. Your Direct Debit is a rolling payment and has no ‘END’ date.
Lessons are paid for at the beginning of each month based on the number of lessons scheduled within that month. As a result, the direct debit amount may vary from month to month, depending on the total number of lessons the swimmer will attend. The price per lesson will remain the same.
6. Joining Terms
Membership begins once payment is confirmed and these Terms & Conditions are accepted. You will receive email confirmation once booking is complete. When completing a registration/enquiry document for the Chester City Baths ‘Learn to Swim Scheme’ all personal details are held on our membership system and will be utilised to maintain contact with you. If a place is not available at the swimmer’s current stage, the swimmer will be placed on a waiting list and 2 attempts will be made to contact you once a place becomes available.
7. Cancellation Policy
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to info@chestercitybaths.com. A 30-day notice period applies to all cancellations. If a swimmer is unable to attend swimming lessons for medical reasons, memberships can be placed on hold upon submission of a doctor’s note. Refunds are not provided for missed lessons unless covered under the cooling-off period or medical hold.
8. Swimmer Information
If during your membership period the swimmer’s details change in any way you will be required update this by informing the Chester City Baths reception or by emailing info@chestercitybaths.com as soon as possible. This will include any of the following information:
Name, Contact Number, Email address, Home address and any medical conditions.
9. Crash Course Terms
Crash courses are non-refundable once booked. Dates and times are fixed and cannot be rescheduled. Payment must be made at the time of booking to secure place in the swimming lesson.
10. 1-2-1 Lesson Terms
One-to-one lessons must be booked in advance. Cancellations require 48 hours’ notice; otherwise, the session will be charged in full.
11. Photography & Video
For safeguarding reasons, photography and video recording during lessons are strictly prohibited.
12. Concerns or Queries
All concerns or queries regarding swimming lessons should be directed to info@chestercitybaths.com. We aim to respond promptly to all inquiries.
13. Parental Supervision
Parents or guardians of swimmers under the age of 8 must remain on the premises for the entire duration of the lesson. Parents will remain responsible for children outside of lesson times.
14. Lesson Cancellation by Chester City Baths
If Chester City Baths is required to cancel a lesson, we will provide as much notice as possible. Any cancelled lessons will be credited on the next available direct debit payment.
15. Health and Safety Requirements
Please inform us of any medical conditions or disabilities. Swimmers should not attend if ill or contagious.

Personal data is stored securely and used only for lesson administration, in compliance with GDPR regulations.
